Upgrades to the Lumen Lights

We’ve been using the Lumen lights on our 1000m deep resident ROV for years now with mixed success. The lens’ often crack. We made custom thicker Acrylic len’s without holes used in our last deployment but even those cracked and leaked over time so we are looking for other options besides super big and expensive Deep Sea Power & Lighting lights which we also have.

I recently designed and made custom flanges and BK7 glass lens’s that are compatible with the lumen lights. Check them out here. I still need to anodize the flanges but was waiting for the glass to test the fit.

Here are some pictures. I think these will work great.

Hi @hube268 -

Love the DIY solution!

Do you mean that lens is intended for use on Lumen lights? Blue Robotics doesn’t make any “fathom” lights… but Fathom tether exists!

The R&D team is perfecting a major update to the Lumens - more lumen output (especially when strobed), 1000m rating, and much easier to adjust the angle they mount at! It’s tough to say when they’ll launch, but hopefully before the end of the year!

Thanks @tony-white. Mistake on my part. I’ll update my post.

We went to Deep Water Engineering lights, 330 each and slightly bigger had to build a small interface bottle to plug everything into but haven’t had anything leak since

I think you mean DeepWater Exploration. I have some of their cameras but haven’t used there lights.
