Hi, hoping to tap into your combined expertise and experience.
We typically use the BlueRobotics switches in our builds, but they are too big (long) for our current compact 2” camera project. Is anyone aware of any more compact subsea switches? No need for activation underwater - essentially it is just a hard on/off prior to deployment.
Are you looking for compact inside or outside the enclosure?
Smallest option I can think of is not having a penetrator at all, and using a magnetically activated switch - there have been some previous discussions which may be of interest.
We are using reed switches and magnetic switches for other parts of the instrument, but were hoping to squeeze something mechanical in to prevent any power draw when the instrument is put into storage.
I was thinking more along the lines of a mechanical switch with a magnet on it, so it can be actuated by (momentarily) holding a magnet against one of two fixed positions outside the enclosure, or sliding it to drag the magnet on the inside.
Not sure if that’s readily available commercially, or is something you could rig up yourselves for your setup.
