ROV Survey - Any responses are welcome, researchers preferred

Hi! I am a student in the Ocean engineering and marine research field and I made a quick survey just to gage the interest in a project I am working on. I would really appreciate if you would be able to fill it out. Thank you!

Hi @AverageROV, welcome to the forum

You’re welcome to post surveys and solicit feedback here, but I would note that:

  1. If you want people to spend their valuable time on you, you’ll need to give them a reason to want to
    • At minimum you should share enough context about your project that your target market would consider clicking on the link to even look at your survey
    • A tangible sense of what the survey results will be used for can also help, especially if that benefits the respondents (e.g. they get to see the results and learn about communal priorities, they get to guide a new open platform, or they get to think about an interesting new vehicle frame/type)
    • Financial or physical rewards can also encourage responses, though that’s dependent on your resources, and if managed poorly may encourage higher volume but lower quality responses
  2. Nice as it may be to have data you can follow up on, many people are wary of sharing detailed information about themselves, especially without a sense of how it will be used
    • I would recommend making the personal information questions optional, and only including the ones that you have a use for
    • It’s likely worth specifying what that information is needed for

Hi @EliotBR,

I am currently working on remaking the form and I will also make a new post with more information if that is fine.

Thank you so much for your advice!
