ROV Power Supply Enclosure for OTPS is causing issues

Problem with ROV power supply enclosure for OTPS.
I used Outland Technology Power Supply for the BlueROV2 product for the whole process.

  1. Enter the power of the ROV.
  2. The ROVโ€™s ON sound is output.
  3. The light of the ROV is turned on.
  4. The power of the ROV is shut down.
  5. The Neg-Side Leak. message is output and the ROV is shut down.

How can I solve this?

Hi Delphy,
You seems to have an isolation problem in your tether.
that means that the negative power wire touch or is near the earth cable. do you dive in Seawater ?
there is a 70% chance that the fault is located in the โ€œYโ€, I mean where the tether split to the 2 cable to get to the OTPS power supply POD.
I you have a megger you can easily test the tether.
I suggest you to make a repotting of the tether termination,.

Hi @delphi1, welcome to the forum

From the user manual:

If youโ€™re getting a Neg-Side Leak fault then there is leakage current being detected between the high voltage negative line to the chassis, so thereโ€™s some kind of insulation breakdown or short circuit.

@Outland may have some suggestions on how to resolve that, but the primary recommendations in their user manual are to narrow down which component is failing (there are steps for doing this in the Troubleshooting section), and send that part back to them for repair.

@delphi1 Please answer the questions that I asked you in my response to your email. Here they are again.

Please perform the following tests:

Disconnect tether from topside power supply and rov.

Turn on Topside power supply. Does it still say negative side leak or is it normal now?

Power off topside power supply and connect tether (ROV still disconnected)

Turn on Topside power supply again. Does it still say negative side leak or is it normal now?

Thank you.

Thank you.

I sent the test footage to Outland. They responded that the issue is likely related to the cable reel or tether
