We are launching a new single channel sonar, the TSR-900 Altimeter at Ocean Business next week. The TSR-900 Altimeter is designed to measure the altitude of an object above the seafloor or forward looking obstacle detection and it can be also used as profiling sonar for single channel bathymetry. It can be used on many different platforms ROVs, AUVs and ASVs. At the 200 kHz frequency it has a maximum
resolution of 3 cm / sample at 150 meters range and a maximum resolution of 1 cm /
sample at 50 meters range. It has a MCBH4F underwater connector, allowing for quick connect and disconnect. We are currently in the process updating the Ping Protocol to work with this new sonar which should be released in the next week or two.
Main differences between the TSR-900 Altimeter and TSR-1000 Echosounder:
Operating Depth Rating: 200 meters (shallow water transducer) vs 900 meters (deep water transducer)
Communications: RS-485 vs multi-protocol RS-422, RS-485, RS-232
Analog front end: Simple gain stage vs advanced multi gain stage
Transmitter: One transmit power setting vs variable transmit power
Sonar signal processing: Standard 16bit magnitude output vs I/Q Doppler processing
Frequency: 200 kHz (18 deg beamwidth) vs 200 kHz (10 deg) or 675 kHz (2.7 deg)
For customers in the US, we are in the process of filling out the CUSMA origin documentation, this should make the Altimeter exempt from US tariffs.
This is our most price competitive sonar, the direct pre-order price for the Altimeter will be $995 USD (not including taxes, duties, tariffs and shipping). The $995 USD price will be valid till April 30, 2025. Expected shipping to customers will begin in May 2025.
