Hi y’all,
I’m currently trying to install a hydrophone on my BlueROV2. The excess slack of the thin black wire the hydrophone uses is quite long and cannot be cut to reduce its length. Because of this, I decided not to use a cable jacket to run from a wetlink penetrator to the end of the hydrophone’s o-ring. The thicker part of the cable on the right near the adapter end is 6mm in diameter and the thin black wire is 3mm in diameter.
Therefore, I am looking for a solution to pass the hydrophone cables’ end into the BlueROV2’s watertight enclosure. I attempted this before using epoxy, but it was unable to pass the vacuum test.
My current idea for a solution is to use the old-style potted penetrator from Blue Robotics and use the Wetlink Thixotropic 80A potting compound to create the seal.
Unlike in the example image above, I would not be using a cable jacket. I would instead use the potting compound directly on the cable inside the penetrator head.
This is the current solution I could think of, but I am not confident that it will work. Therefore, I would like advice on how to solve this problem.
Thank you,
