Integration of ISM3D or and Alternatives AHS IMU with BlueOS

Hello,

I am exploring the possibility of integrating the ISM3D sensor with BlueOS. For reference, you can find more information about ISM3D here: ISM3D - Impact Subsea.

Has anyone worked on similar integrations before? If so, I would appreciate any insights or guidelines on how to proceed.

Additionally, are there any other similar senosor with Active Heading Stabilization (AHS) systems that are known to integrate well with BlueOS? Recommendations on reliable and high-performance alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

This comment provides something of an overview of the potential approaches for this kind of integration.

From a quick look at the device, it looks like it would likely make more sense to integrate as an ExternalAHRS driver within the autopilot firmware (e.g. ArduSub), rather than implementing it via BlueOS. There is some relevant discussion / context in this forum thread :slight_smile:
