Image as overlay in Cockpit recording

Hi,

I am in the process of converting over to Cockpit from QGC. Today we use OBS for video recording and not the built in functionality in QGC. Switching over to Cockpit I was hoping to use the built in recording functionality, but I am not able to add a image / company logo as overlay.

I understand that the video is recorded from the camera feed and telemetry is recorded in a separate file making a image overlay tricky.

Is there a way to add a image overlay or do you have any plans to add this functionality? It is common practice in our industry to have both our own and our clients logo on the final documentation.

Hey Kristian!

We don’t have this yet, but it’s in our plans. I will try to push it for this next development cycle.

In the meantime I recommend burning the logo in the video with an editing software like HandBrake.

Hi Rafael,

Does this also apply to survey data such as water depth, coordinates, etc? We would also like to display this information as an overlay on the video for our clients, but adding it during post-processing is quite cumbersome.

What would be the best way to include this data in the final video? Is there currently a recommended workflow or tool for synchronizing and burning the data into the recording?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Erik_74, welcome to the forum

Not quite sure what you’re asking here - if it’s live changing data values you can already add them as part of the normal subtitle generation process (which can also be burned in using handbrake, if you don’t want them to be optional/hideable).

If it’s visual annotations with dynamic positions (rather than just updating text) then there are some thoughts about that, but no concrete plans - we’re more generally considering some kind of rich replay feature of Cockpit’s recorded data, but that’s also still in a conceptual stage.
