I’ve just seen this never got responded to - I hope you managed to resolve it at the time.
Yes, it automatically records the data it receives, and allows it to be replayed.
In case it is relevant, there is also example code for programmatically decoding the log files (and encoding your own / modified ones) 
Following up on this, this is now available (including the new firmware with the auto_* functionality!).
