Hi,
We had our Li 4S 18Ah battery charged and we wanted to put it in storage mode, so we started the storage task and, for the first two minutes, it was shown on the screen “Storage discharge” but, suddenly, it switched to “Storage charge” when the battery charge percentage was over 90% and it remained the same for 10 minutes, so I stopped the task I repeated the process again for several times with the same unexpected result. Then, I realised that the type of battery shown on the charger screen was LiPo 4S, instead of Li 4S, but I can only choose between LiPo4S or 6S in the battery type options. I would like to ask you for advice to solve this incidence.
Thank you in advance.
Hi @Pere
What a strange issue! You could try to unlock the charger firmware., however unlocking the firmware should not be necessary for normal operation (charging 4S and 6S batteries.) I mention it because it’s something you could try that may help for this specific situation, as something strange seems to be going on!
Thank you Tony,
I think I don’t understand what you mean, realated to the 4.2 volts per cell. The issue I’m reporting is about a fully charged battery that stopped discharging after a few minutes in storage task. The image I shared is what repeatedly happens after those two minutes of storage discharging. . It suddenly switches from storage discharge to storage charging unexpectedly. That’s why you can see 3.8V on the screen, because is the preset voltage in storage task.
Hi @Pere -
It can take awhile to reach storage voltage - what happens if you leave the unit going? Does positive or negative current enter the battery, according to the display? If the voltage stays constant from the point you picture forwards, the charger may have an issue - please reach out via the Blue Robotics support form if so.
To add to this @Pere , LiPo is the correct setting for Blue Robotics batteries. The H6 charger will charge or discharge all Blue Robotics batteries correctly with the default firmware. You do not need to change it to Li-Ion.
Thank you Daniel. You’re right
Hi,
Maybe there’s an issue with the thermostat. It goes from 42ºC up to 74ºC in two minutes, in storage mode. It suddenly turns from storage discharging to storage charging (but doesn’t charge it) when the thermometer peaks at 74ºC. The charger is not hot at all, neither the battery apparently.
