ESC Suggestion: Native ERPM feedback

Hello,

I would just like to suggest the integration or employing something like this natively on the basic ESC.

We are using it for some tests right now with the M200 motor, and the code is super simple, and it is pretty accurate/stable.

We compared the results with this Neiko 20713A tachometer and the ERPM sensor was more stable than this tachometer.

Personally, I would love to see this native on the Basic ESC, since it seems really easy to integrate and would add a lot of value. For example, for the AUV’s I’m working on, I’m including the RPM sensor so we can maintain constant RPM across the operating voltages, so our thruster model is more consistent.

The sensor’s website/documentation says it ranges from 10,000 RPM to 100,000 RPM, which was pretty unclear, since it may be referring to the ERPM, however we tested it down to physically about 200 RPM and had no issues.

Thx

Hi @rturrisi, thanks for the suggestion - I’ve passed it on to our R&D team

Our Basic ESC isn’t readily modifiable to support something like this, but we have started development of a new ESC, and telemetry (including RPM monitoring) is one of several enhancements we’re intending to include
