Hi Njål
I have compared my Dell Rugged Extreme that have transreflective screen with a 1000 nits monitor and found that the Dell Rugged performs better in sunlight. // Bo
thanks for your reply. i think I misunderstood initially when I read about the crystal sky tat I could use it as the topside computer as well as a monitor but according to corndog on the forums, it is only a monitor and not a computer. i had though that I could run the android version of QGC on it and do away with the need to have another computer. i am guessing that is why you have a computer and the monitor linked to the Ubiquiti as the same time?
Hi John,
The Crystalsky can operate the BlueROV2 without a computer.
It is more than “strong” enough. You can control it from the screen or add a game controller using usb bluetooth adapter.
You can record video and do everything you can do on the PC.
I use mine as a extra display for the client or for the inspector.
It has no lag on the video and I can easily connect another monitor to it from the hdmi output.
Cheers Jan Robert
It works perfectly on my crystalsky.
I tried a few versions of qgroundcontrol and some work really well, other not so much.
I will check which version I use…
such a pity it doesn’t seem possible to change the IP address on the Crystalsky to use it as the primary computer. Also I have tried plugging a dongle in with a ethernet socket connecting the Fathom X to it and nothing happens in QGC.
When I connect my macbook to it by HDMI nothing happens either. how did you set your CS up to allow that?
cheers
John
You have to go into the wifi settings on the cs.
Change the settings to stativ ip. Put in the number you want.
This will make the wifi work and the cs can function as the primary screen.
Wired connection will not work. The Android version is not compatible with this. You need Android 6 or higher in order for this to work.
Cheers

I found a work around that allows use of the Crystal Sky without a router. By using my phone as a wifi hotspot, I can use Teamviewer and control QGC on my MacBook from CS. works pretty well. I can now close my macbook which I always hated leaving open in salty environments as a side benefit and just use the CS screen. only downside of doing it this way is the reliance on having wifi signal for the phone. maybe somebody on the forums has a way to get around this.
cheers
John
