Hi,

I would like to ask why in BR2 we use a third part camera and not the original Raspberry Pi Camera module which specifications are very good?

Hi Nikos,

We used to use the Raspberry Pi camera but the color and lighting quality underwater was fairly poor. We’ve found that the new USB camera has much better performance in typical underwater lighting situations. Part of this is because it has a larger sensor and lower total pixels, so each pixel on the sensor is exposed to more light.

The launch video for the newer camera has a good comparison between the two.
