During a recent test dive in a 12.6’ training pool with dive support, the ROV went into safety protocol emergency alarm state, detecting a leak. We were able to reach the surface, and just as the ROV was lifted from the water, the Dome cap came off in the water. The ROV retained zero damage, and what water had made its way into the unit had been absorbed by the leak probes and expanding foam, saving thousands of dollars and project delays.
Some additional notes, the water was 82 degrees F, with internal operating temperature of 133 degress F, and 15 minute vacuum test passed with only 1 psi degradation. Cap retainers are being added.
