Hey all,
I got an exploreHD camera to mount on my Blueboat, both for in-water monitoring and for seeing where the Blueboat is headed. The camera quality is great, both in terms of footage and build quality, but the mount has been problematic. It’s impossible to lock the camera in place and it tends to wander since it only gets screwed in in one axis. This led to the screws backing out during operation and the camera dangling in the water, despite using loctite.
Does anyone have a better mount idea? I resorted to good old zip-ties to the crossbeams but that’s not idea. Next will be to 3D print something bespoke but that will be a fair bit of work!
Using k.deboer’s mount as a guide, I’ve developed this:
Final blueboat camera mount.stl (490.9 KB)
It’s designed to slot into the holes in the cross beams, and like any good marine scientist tool uses just zip ties (both around the crossbeam and to fix the camera), but honestly in PETG it feels tight enough to not need any (I might put some on just in case the sun softens it a bit).
