"Balance Cable Must be Plugged In"

Just bought my first BlueRov2 and cant get the battery to charge. Keeps telling me the balance cable isnt plugged in but it most definitely is. Any ideas?

I’ve tried contacting them but got no response.

Hi @TheCollector,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with charging your battery!

Is it showing you 4 cell voltages plus a total voltage before you try to start charging? From the information you’ve provided, I’d guess that the cable is either not fully seated / plugged in, or one or more of the connections are damaged/broken somewhere.

Was this through our product problems form, or some other means? That form is the best way to make sure the support team receive and can respond meaningfully to your request.

I clicked the Contact Us link on your site and selected “Report a problem with a product” option from the dropdown.

Here’s what it shows on the previous screen.

Hi @TheCollector -
Support will email you back, but as detailed in the battery care guide, that battery is dead! Anything below 12V will permanently damage the battery - that should be recycled. Sorry for the news!

Is this a common problem? It’s a brand new battery. Just got it last week.

It’s a common problem, if only because to err is human!
Chances are the battery was left connected to the ROV for too long, and it drained it to the point of no return…It’s good to always disconnect and remove the battery when done with a dive!

I haven’t used it yet.
