I am developing a pipe inspection robot . I am unable to focus on the pipe walls is there any changes i can do to focus on the wall. is there any software which i can use t change the focus.
Hi @Aaron19,
Our Low-Light HD USB Camera has a fixed-focus lens. There is a small amount of manual adjustment you can make by removing the mount (if you’re using one) and screwing the lens in or out, but it’s not expected to be necessary, and the cameras should generally ship with a reasonable focus point for use on an ROV operating underwater.
Is the image clear when the camera is in air? And do you know whether the fluid in your pipe is murky?
Yes the image is good with the camera in the air. The pipe does not have any liquid in it.
Also will the cam be Compatible over optical fibre ?
Will it work with this module
Also is there any way to extend the distance of my camera to more than 100m through wire , the diameter of my pipe for inspection is 85mm dia and cant fit an rpi in it . Another way is to use the camera with an rpi outside a pipe with ethernet cable of length 100 m . will this work ?
It’s a USB camera. If you’re able to supply the power it needs (perhaps using a battery?), and have a suitable converter for the USB communication it expects to use then I imagine it could be extended over a fiber optic cable, although the module you’ve linked to specifies that it is
so that one likely won’t work.
You could potentially use some kind of HomePlug module (similar to our Fathom-X, but perhaps a smaller custom board) for the communications part of this, although you would either need some kind of small computer to convert the camera’s USB signal to an ethernet signal, or just use an IP camera to start with.
Standard ethernet cable generally won’t support 100m+ connections.
