AIS or other position to plot on Map

Good Day,

I was attempting to transmit AIS data to my BlueROV when I realized that ArduSub does not support AIS messages. Is this correct? Are there alternative methods to transmit AIS data or other live positions to my system for real-time visualization of other vehicles, boats, or third-party equipment?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi @Flagabat -
An AIS transmitted may be useful on a BlueBoat, but as radio waves don’t penetrate water, broadcasting data from a BlueROV2 via AIS frequencies is not possible!

There are multiple ways of tracking your underwater vehicles location, including the WaterLinked Underwater GPS and the Cerulean Sonar Mk2 Locator.

Thanks for your reply, I am currently tracking my underwater rov with an small usbl connected by serial onto the rov , I have a pinger onboard the boat so using the heading I can calculate my position. I find the way to transmit GNGGA through Mav protocol ( thanks to NMEA injector ) .
This all is working I am looking forward:
I wish to be able to see my own boat ( so display it onto the map would be great)
I am also looking to see other vessels around or navigation buoys.

Another thing could be to have a nautical chart instead of google map but this will be for later ^^

I am looking forward to find solutions or build solutions ^^

Rgds
