Subsea Tether management system for BlueROV2

Hi everyone!

I’d like to introduce a new project we’re working on at Subsea Assist – a Subsea Tether Management System (TMS) designed specifically for the BlueROV2 and similar small ROVs. This system helps reduce tether drag and improves maneuverability by keeping excess tether managed efficiently underwater.

Additionally, the system can be used with a deployment cage, allowing the ROV to be lowered from the surface while keeping the tether neatly controlled. This is especially useful in strong currents or when operating in confined spaces.

We’re still in the early stages of development, and there’s a lot of testing ahead before this becomes a finished product. However, we’re excited about the potential this could have!

Let me know what you guys think :slightly_smiling_face:

Stay tuned for updates as we continue testing and refining the system.

Nice!

There is nothing that pulls the tether out so you will need tension while spooling out?

Hi @IntoTheBlue

Thanks!

That’s correct. At the moment the ROV needs to be pulling tension on the tether while spooling out. We have this in mind and we are designing a tensioner system that will be tested soon hopefully.
