ROV Lights

Re: External lights - Does anyone Have Experience adding Lights to BlueROV?

I have two thoughts.

  1. I bought two small circuits on ebay with 12vdc leds I was thinking we could pot these with epoxy, running the cable thru a penetrator. Since most of these are designed to run off the battery of a car, they should be OK at 12-15 volts or so. Many types available http://www.ebay.com/itm/24SMD-5730-LED-White-Light-Panel-Board-Auto-Interior-Map-Dome-Reading-Lamp-12V-/371321836086?hash=item5674819236:g:lpIAAOSwrklVStZo&vxp=mtr
  2. A second option we have not evaluated is to use waterproof led strip lights such as the following have not tested whether these will handle depth pressure. See http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-50CM-Super-Bright-SMD-5630-White-30-LED-Waterproof-Flexible-Strip-Lamp-DC-12V-/201558666454?hash=item2eedd52cd6:g:rLUAAOSwgQ9VsdtJ
Anyone else have ideas or experience?

Here are some other candidates to modify…

@Paul and John - If you can wait till about Wednesday this week you’ll find a good solution in our store

Sounds interesting Rusty!

Will that solution be natively supported in ArduSub?

Christian,

Yes, they are already supported actually. There’s a section on connecting the lights on the ArduSub documentation here: http://ardusub.com/initial-setup/#lights-setup

Best,

Rusty

Hi guys, I have used this item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251626958854?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=550571204226&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

And formed a aluminium mount, then encapsulated the led strip in crystal resin. This will be one of the lights I will also have 2no spot light type 5w LEDs these will all be run off separate Meanwell controllers.

Cheers John
