The tech specs of the Ping2 list a beam width of 25 degrees. Is this the angle from the center of the sonar, or the total angle of the sonar beam? I’m inclined to think it is the latter, but clarification would be appreciated.
Hi @MJS_FRF -
The 25 degree beam emerges from the transducer in the Ping2. You can think of this as a flashlight beam, with the circular disc of the sonar emitting the sound with that 25 degree beam. I’m not quite sure what you mean by the “total angle” of the sonar beam.
Sorry that was expressed poorly. My question was whether the 25 degree beam width measured angle A (25 degrees from center) or angle B (25 degrees total) on this drawing.
Understood! it is the angle described by “B” in your drawing
