I am using the ROV for scientific monitoring and I need the video to be the maximum stable as possible. I have been looking and they recommend to use a gimbal system but I would like to build a system that works with a camera that is connected to the software so I can still see the image while I am piloting the ROV. Does anyone know of a system like that?
The BlueROV2 provides a live stream to the operator of the ROV! This is the standard solution - are you looking for a higher quality camera picture or something else? BlueOS / ArduSub / Cockpit try and make it as easy as possible to set this kind of thing up, even on your own custom ROV…
Many users prefer the quality of GoPro, however streaming the feed from this camera live, especially in a subsea environment, can be very difficult if not impossible…
Hi Tony, thanks for your answer! I am looking to set up a camera on a gimbal system, to stabilize the image. I have seen though there are not many options for underwater gimbal systems and I am wondering if anyone here has ever set up one. The important part is that this external camera I set up on the gimbal system can be connected to the ROV so then I can see the video live. Thanks!
Hi @laurajane
A user has developed this dual axis servo-powered gimbal, but generally the standard BlueROV2, even with only 6 thrusters, provides an actively stabilize platform. Roll stabilization happens thanks to the two vertical thrusters, and pitch stabilization can be enabled in Vehicle Setup.
