Incomplete Blue Robotics BlueBoat USV Project with Cerulean Surveyor 240-16 Multibeam Echosounder

Yellow Blue Robotics BlueBoat USV project, including BlueBoat, BlueBoat Base Station, Control Unit, parts and spares.

Previously used for single-beam operations, so it has a Trimble antenna cable installed along with a pole mount. Includes spare propellers, cabling and all parts required for installation.

Also included is a Cerulean Surveyor 240-16 Multibeam Echosounder, a compact MBES designed for small USVs such as the BlueBoat. It offers up to 100 m depth range, built-in IMU pitch/roll compensation, and can be paired with SonarView software to generate real-time 3D point clouds for bathymetric survey and mapping.

The BlueBoat platform is designed for hydrographic survey, robotics development and sensor integration, with open-source BlueOS software and an expandable hull/electronics architecture.

Hi Tony,

The Blueboat is in new working order, the only incomplete part is the installation of the Multibeam setup, that has not yet been completed.

Hi Mark,

I’ve been looking at your BlueBoat/Surveyor 240-16 package and would be interested in finding out a bit more about it if it’s still available.

I run a small ecological consultancy in the Scottish Highlands and already do quite a lot of UAV and remote-sensing work. I’ve been considering whether autonomous bathymetry and potentially seabed/habitat mapping could be a useful extension of that, so your setup caught my attention.

I saw your clarification that the BlueBoat itself is complete and working and that it’s primarily the multibeam installation that hasn’t been finished. Could you give me a bit more background on the system and the project — particularly what it was originally being used for and why the multibeam installation wasn’t completed?

I’d also be interested to know whether the Surveyor itself has been powered up/tested, what installation hardware and cabling for it are included, and what GNSS setup was previously used for the single-beam work. I noticed the reference to the Trimble antenna cable and pole mount, so it would be useful to know what receiver/antenna was previously fitted and whether any of that equipment is still available.

Finally, roughly how much use has the BlueBoat had, and are the batteries, BaseStation and Control Unit all currently working?

I’m still at the exploratory stage rather than having made a decision to buy a system, but if the package is fairly complete it could potentially be a good fit for what I’m looking at.
