Finished my high voltage tether power mod!

I suppose it makes a big difference at what two points you’re measuring from? As in, too far back in the circuit and it’d probably trip too frequently at 3ma, but too close together and you’d only catch an issue with the tether? Megacons don’t use a separate conductor for monitoring, so they would have the same issue?

Not sure about Megacons specifically, but I know that a single ended LIM detects contact between a chassis and an isolated loop, like in an electric powered automobile. It works if the chassis is conductive, and if the system grounding is properly understood and always the same like at a factory building or something.

There will be a problem in a boat where the grounding situation is always different, the chassis may or may not be conductive, the water may or may not be conductive, and there are people and animals interacting around the system at different points. It is necessary to verify that the current from the supply is getting to the BR2 and nowhere else, and I think the best way to do that is by comparing the current at both ends.

Hi Etienne,

Are you located in Québec? I have some problem ordering batteries and I am looking for solutions.
Steeve

Hi Steeve,

I am from Quebec but not located in Quebec. I left over 8 years ago and haven’t been back since.

Sorry. That said, I am sure ground transport courrier would allow to purchase the batteries.

Cheers,
E.

Alternativement, si tu es débrouillard, tu peux construire tes propres batteries.

Cdt,
Etienne

Maby a little off Topic… how much amp with 220v AC! can you send down 2x twisted pairs on the Fathom tether ??

It’s the same current with 220ac. Tether is fixed to 310dc. The bottom side regulator controls its output current and limits it to 30A.
