Has anybody stumbled upon some affordable inline connections for ROV exteriors? Something like these: Undewater Electrical Connectors
Those are pretty darn cheap. Trust me, add some cable length to them or special order Mil-Standard cable and you will see the price tag jump into the thousands of dollars each.
I regularly use the Seacon Micro Wet-Con connectors for my projects. Although it can be $40 for a pair, you get what you pay for in this business. The connections are strong and do take some force to push together and pull apart. The optional locking ring is great for a tether connection.
I’ve seen other people use IP68 connectors with less than satisfactory results at depth. If you’re serious about what you’re doing, just get the Seacon ones.
