CAB-A-2-12AWG-R1 cable voltage rating

Hi guys,

Just wondering what is the voltage rating for your high power cable.

Can it handle 1000Vdc?

Cheers,
E.

Hi Etienne,

We don’t have an official voltage rating on that cable. The insulation on each individual wire is 0.010" (0.25mm) FEP. I would certainly be hesitant to apply 1000v to that given how thin the insulation is.

How about 320Vdc?

Hi Etienne, I can’t seem to find any references for voltage rating versus thickness of FEP insulation, so I don’t have an answer for this right now, unfortunately!

Hello Rusty,

no worries. Your cable distributor/manufacturer doesn’t have this info?

Cheers,
E.

You’re good at 320vdc. It’s already being used in a topside power setup around those voltages, maybe 350vdc, can’t recall exactly. Coating feels like teflon/tefzel. I’d guess 600v rated.

Hi Etienne,

I talked to the manufacturer and they suggested a 300v rating for this cable. For reference, it has 0.010" thick FEP insulation.

Thanks for the info.
