Buoyancy in Tether

Hi all

Have anyone tested to have a small buoyancy some distance ( 3 m ) on the tether.
The reason for this is when operating the BR2 over old wrecks is to prevent the tether to get tangeld.
The fixing point for the tether is on top side in center of the rov.

Yes, I add one or two small pieces of buoyancy to the tether when I’m working around wrecks or reefs. I still keep the tether attached to the stern though.

… Just keep your aft cam at it and you Will be fine, loose visual is worse than hangibg straight out back, had a reef inspection and my copilots only Job was tether, but No boyancy:)… Was a tense trainee😂

In the MATE robotics competition, we have to worry about our tether dragging on props in the water. We also have to consider the drag of pulling a couple pound tether. The dense foam BR sells works great, with little cubes attached every 4 feet or so. Dense foam does not compress, and the buoyancy doesn’t change with time where other foams can become less buoyant once saturated.
Its smart, and it works.
