PRV or M10 Vent Plug thread size

I am working on SLA printing a part where I would like to put a a PRV plug or a M10 Vent plug on my part to be able to do a vacuum test. I do not have room to put the penetrator on the device. However I would just like to know the thread size on the part so I can tap the threads. It seems from measuring that it was about 9/16" x 24 but it is really hard to tell and it is not a super common size.

Does anyone know a way to figure it out from the model or the part?

Hi @BradenMeyers

Welcome to the forums!

That thread is definitely not standard but is instead metric, a M10 x 1.5 threaded hole with sufficient sealing surface lead in for the vent plug o-rings (before the threads) should work!

When it comes to your application be cautious, as sla printed parts may not hold much external pressure!

Hi @tony-white

Thanks for your help with this! I am actually looking for the thread size of the inner part.

Luckily I have tested this part in a pressure chamber! If you make them thick enough they can hold a good amount
Did you know of other 3D printable materials that work better to create a custom enclosure?

Hi @BradenMeyers

That is a M14x1 metric thread.

May I take a moment to point out that metric threads ARE STANDARD THREADS!!! The ‘standard’ is ISO 68-1

Agreed! I guess I should have said Imperial and not Standard!
