We recently welcomed @tony-white onto the Blue Robotics team, and part of his role is to explore and document various applications that are possible with our components and vehicles
The BlueBoat is a new enough vehicle that it’s still quite unknown how it will end up being used, but one quite likely application is in hydrographic surveying. We thought we’d get ahead of the curve and provide some guidance on one way of doing so, which will hopefully be helpful to those of you starting out and looking to do something similar.
Check out Tony’s guide here:
We’d love to hear any feedback you have on this guide, as well as any other similar guides or content you’d be interested in!
Thank you @EliotBR and @tony-white for bringing awareness to “Off-the-shelf” applications of BlueBoat using consumer Lowrance Sonar. The now independent company BioBase LLC (biobasemaps.com) built and maintained C-MAP’s Genesis Maps and Social Map platform from 2014-2023. This platform was always just for consumer use to create fishing maps. What people may not know, is that BioBase is made for aquatic and coastal scientists and practitioners and functions the same as Genesis but is much more feature rich and creates very detailed GIS hydrographic, seagrass/vegetation/kelp, and bottom hardness datasets. Check us out and get in touch. BlueBoat is a perfect autonomous application for BioBase surveys with Lowrance.
