Starboard vertical thruster activates whenever I increase gain above 50%, without operating joystick?
Would controller need to be recalibrated?

It’s possible, you can look at the joystick indicators on the joystick page to see if they are centered.

You can also look at Widgets-\>MAVLink Inspector-\>RC\_CHANNELS\_RAW and SERVO\_OUTPUT\_RAW to see the signals that the autopilot is getting from the controller and sending to the motors, respectively. This should help you to narrow down the problem.

Please note that the motors will always run on their own to stabilize the vehicle, unless the mode is MANUAL.
