# Ping360 Firmware Update

Hi Folks,

The [Ping360 Scanning Sonar](https://bluerobotics.com/store/sonars/imaging-sonars/ping360-sonar-r1-rp/) just got a performance boost. All new units now ship with updated firmware that improves scan rate across all interfaces and adds support for the [`auto_transmit` function](https://docs.bluerobotics.com/ping-protocol/pingmessage-ping360/#2602-auto_transmit). See the comparison below vs the old firmware.

If you already have a Ping360, you can update the firmware using Ping Viewer (version 2.6.0 or later). Follow the [update instructions here](https://docs.bluerobotics.com/ping-viewer/firmware-update/).

A couple other quick updates:

- The Ping360 now uses a new cable with a larger diameter and heavier-gauge conductors.
- The WetLink Penetrator has changed from M10-4.5-LC to M10-5.5-LC to match the new cable.

Welcome to the forums!

You find this menu in the PingViewer interface, with the sonar connected via USB/Serial directly to the computer you’re using. Checkout the [documentation](https://docs.bluerobotics.com/ping-viewer/firmware-update/) that Daniel linked above?
