Ethernet Switch Enclosure Specs

I’m building an external BR Ethernet Switch for easy integration of additional devices on my BlueROV2. I’d like to use a 3" aluminum enclosure and I’d like to use the new rail system. What would you recommend for the tray and rails? I’m thinking 150N in a 150mm enclosure. Thanks!

Hi @kurty -
The standard tray for that size, or your own 3D printed one with holes in the right position is your best bet. I’d highly recommend 3D modeling your build to check fit and plan your mounting - Onshape or Autodesk Fusion make this easy and free!

This product may be of interest.

I did one earlier this year, but with a 2” enclosure.

It is a little tight, but easy to achieve with rails, and has 4 way power bus bars, and 3 Ethernet ports. Connection to the ROV is with 8-pin cobalt for data, and 3-pin cobalt for power.

Hi Marcus, thanks for your post! I just assumed the BR switch was too large for the 2-inch tube! I will try it now.

It just fits. I used nylon bolts into the enclosure end and cable ties to mount the switch. The rails I mounted the power bus. The stitch board is held pretty solid by the cables.
