Hi,

I am working on creating a battery management system for 14.8V 10Ah Blue Robotics batteries. Can I short the high-power out connection with the other highest cell monitor pin on the battery? Is this okay as well with the negative terminal and the lowest cell monitor pin?

Here is our current idea for the schematic attached below:

Is this connection okay, or is there extra circuitry that we should apply? As well do you know of any battery management systems created for these specific batteries?

Thank you!

Yes, a 4S battery has 4 cells in series, so the 5 monitoring points include the positive and negative terminals.

Just for peace of mind I did a continuity check with a multimeter and the red wire is already internally connected to the positive terminal, and the black wire at the opposite end of the connector is connected to the negative terminal.

I would suggest against the `Cell0` net label, to avoid people mistakenly thinking there are 5 series cell groups.

I’m unsure how you feel about symbols in your net labels, but you could perhaps have `Cell 1-`, `Cell 1+/2-`, `Cell 2+/3-`, `Cell 3+/4-`, `Cell 4+` for full clarity on what each monitoring point is connected to? Otherwise you could just relabel `Cell0` to be `BAT-`, or `GND`, perhaps?

Not specifically, though you may find some useful insight around what others have tried by searching the forum for terms like [BMS](https://discuss.bluerobotics.com/search?expanded=true&q=BMS).

Hi @RyanRana -
I typically recommend the use of a [cell balancer](https://www.amazon.com/Lifepo4-Equalizer-Balancer-Inductive-Transfer/dp/B09C3J4V51/) if solar charging 4S batteries, but if you need a BMS to prevent over-discharge, over-charge, and over-current, then you’ve got quite a design challenge ahead - at least if you’re planning to support using the battery in a typical BlueROV2. It can easily draw over 100 amps!
