Cleaning Rust off T200 thruster

Hi there,

There seems to be some rusting on the T200 thruster I’m using, though it’s mainly on the outer part of the shaft right now and I’m assuming that as long as the magnets are not rusting, it’s still very usable.

But if I want to clean the rust so it doesn’t get worse over time, what is the recommended way to do this. I know that WD-40 shouldn’t be used, so what should be use and what other consideration I need to keep in mind? Is baking soda a bad idea.

Cheers.

Hi @SmokeySalmon -

That level of rust shouldn’t cause any issues, and you’re right to avoid WD-40. I’ve had good experiences with Evap-o-rust - soaking tools and parts like this in it for 24+ hours, then rinsing them thoroughly before assembly. Avoid exposing any plastics to chemicals!
