Cable penetrator for 0.5in cable OD (1500 psi)

Hello all! I am trying to pass a 0.5in cable from a pressure vessel (1500psi) to atmosphere. salt water hydrostatic pressure. My two options are:

  1. use or find a cable penetrator rated for the size and pressure
    or
  2. splice & pot the cable into another bulkhead connector like MCBH8M and then use a threaded (or welded) receptacle onto my end caps.

I would really prefer to stick with the first option because its easier and cleaner (unfortunately I cannot change the cable). I’m looking for advice on where to look. The best solution I’ve found so far is the Conax PG5-500 passthrough. Anyone got better ideas?

Hi @smob -

That pressure corresponds to just over 1000m, so I’d expect a WLP penetrator to seal just fine, even if it’s a bit above the rating. However, that cable diameter is larger than any supported by the gland- can you use multiple cables with a smaller diameter?

Otherwise a potted solution is likely you’re best bet, it will probably work for a decent period!
