So, a few of you may have noticed the 3d printed bottom and side plates on my ROV. I’ve never released those parts. But someone asked me about them the other day, so here is the question. Is Blue Robotics ok with a set of 3d printable sideplates being released as an open source non commercial project? If the answer is no, I won’t release them.

I may still release my robot arm mount as an add in component later either way assuming it works.

Thanks!
Tim

Hi Tim,

I think we’re fine with that. Thanks for sharing! It’s always fun to see projects that are leveraging some or all of our components.

Ok cool. i’ll write it up as a project and post it sometime tonight-ish. Will make sure to state that you explicitly retain all copyright and trademark etc. things related to those design options as well. I’ll post a link here when it’s done, if you would like any of the wording changed, etc. that will not be a problem, so just let me know.

Here you go, the project is live [3d printed frames for a Blue Robotics Bluerov 2 by piercet - Thingiverse](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2824244)

I didn’t take very many pictures of the frame assembly process, but it was basically use bolts as guides and screw everything together with marine epoxy. They will get painted someday too. If you want a stock style frame you can omit my changes to the lower front skids and print the stock-ish parts. I probably eliminated some of the holes that you may need for things like the heavy lift frame, so you may need to bore those out. if you print it in ABS it drills pretty easy though. If anyone has any questions about it, please let me know.

Thanks!
Tim

(hopeing to get it in the water finally soon, it’s been a long road)

That’s the waterproof standard size servo blue robotics sells. [https://www.bluerobotics.com/store/servos/d-5646wp/](https://www.bluerobotics.com/store/servos/d-5646wp/) I will be modifying them by injecting mineral oil into the body and adding a thick gear grease in the gear section to resist pressure.
